iPhone applications lead to money

Eight iPhone owners have joined an elite clan: Their Apple gadget is running a program that cost nearly $1,000.

When the iPhone first hit the market in June 2007, those who paid the $499 entry price — and signed the two-year AT&T contract — owned a status symbol. A year later, we have the iPhone 3G, Apple’s speedier, sleeker and, most important, less expensive smart phone, which introduced a section for downloading third-party iPhone applications. Now that the phone is affordable enough for a wider audience, a new status symbol has emerged: a seemingly useless application called I Am Rich.

Its function is exactly what the name implies: to alert people that you have money in the bank. I Am Rich was available for purchase from the phone’s App Store for, get this, $999.99 — the highest amount a developer can charge through the digital retailer, said Armin Heinrich, the program’s developer. Once downloaded, it doesn’t do much — a red icon sits on the iPhone home screen like any other application, with the subtext “I Am Rich.” Once activated, it treats the user to a large, glowing gem (pictured above). That’s about it. For a thousand dollars.

Apple apparently had some problems with I Am Rich. After initially approving it for distribution, the company has since removed it from the store. Heinrich, a German software developer, has yet to hear back from Apple concerning the removal. “I have no idea why they did it and am not aware of any violation of the rules to sell software on the App Store,” Heinrich said in an e-mail with The Times today.

Now that the iPhone is in South Africa, we all stand a chance of making some extra bucks by coding up some innovative applications!

  • Springleap is currently having a competition which is awarding the user whose website ranks the highest for the keyword ’springleap’. Basically, get those SEO tools out, on the 1st of April the judges will do a google search for springleap and the top three SERP ranked sites will win cash prizes :)

    The prizes are as follows:

    * 1st SERP result - R2500
    * 2nd SERP result - R1000
    * 3rd SERP result - R500

    It’s a clever idea, as most people will be linking back to Springleap inside their posts, therefore securing the keyword for Springleap.com ultimately ;)

    I do see that the following domains are open:

    * springleap.info ($2.99)
    * springleap.net ($9.99)
    * springleap.org ($8.99)
    * springleap.mobi ($7.99)

    The actual Springleap website is rather badly SEO’d, so if you go ahead and register one of these domains and SEO it up correctly, you could easily easily win - Unfortunately I just don’t have the time to do it, otherwise I would! Me thinks..

    1. Register domain
    2. Install wordpress
    3. Write 3 posts
    4. Simple metatag usage
    5. Inbound link structuring

    .. and you could probably win 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize! Someone do it, I want to see someone win doing this!

    Secret Sauce of Google Success

    What do you need to get top rankings on Google? There are many ingredients in the mix, but here are three of the most important that you need to concentrate on.

    1.) Keyword Relevant Copy and Content.

    Whatever the keywords you want to get ranked in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs), be sure that you have enough copy and content about those specific words which will give Google a reason to rank you in the first place.

    If for example, one of your priority keywords is “virtual assistant software”, create a separate page or section for this keyword (at least a few paragraphs) using the keyword in the headline, the first sentence, the last sentence as well as wherever it makes logical sense in order to achieve the keyword frequency and “density” that search engines are looking for. Ideally, each page will only have one or two keywords and will be very focused on that specific topic.

    Additionally, by including on this specific keyword page either articles, pdf files or news items about your keyword, it will help you improve your chances of a better ranking. Give Google a reason to rank you at the top. He with the most relevant copy wins - so make it rich and deep.

    2.) Can the Search Engines Read and “Crawl” All the Pages and Content on Your Site?

  • New Google Adsense Referral Changes

    Are you currently displaying a referral unit for AdSense on your website? Then read on, because there are some upcoming changes to the referral program that you should be aware of. But first let me clarify that only referral units promoting AdSense will be affected by this change; referrals to other products and services remain unaffected at this time. This change to referrals promoting AdSense will differ depending on your location, regardless of where your users are located.

    • If you’re in North America, Latin America, or Japan, the pricing structure for AdSense referrals is changing.
    • If you’re outside of North America, Latin America, and Japan, AdSense referrals will be retired.

    I read this a while back and just never bothered blogging about it, I thought most affiliate bloggers would have noticed this, but after surfing many affiliate blogs, I’ve noticed banners taking up space, but have absolutely no value at all.

    Bloggers, read the original article on the Adsense Blog and sort your free space out :)
